Who We Are
Forest and Agroforestry Promoters (FAP NGO) was established in 2001 and officially legalized by the Government of Cameroon on March 9, 2004 (Reference No.: 137/E31/067/SCAB). Since its inception, FAP has remained committed to advancing sustainable environmental practices while strengthening the resilience and livelihoods of communities across Cameroon.
FAP is dedicated to promoting the sustainable and responsible management, conservation, and restoration of natural ecosystems and wetland resources. We work to ensure long-term environmental health, protect biodiversity and improve the well-being of local communities.
To be a leading force in Cameroon’s sustainable development by promoting inclusive natural resource management, empowering local communities—especially women, youth and vulnerable groups,fostering harmony between people and nature.
We believe in a future where nature thrives and communities flourish. Through sustainable practices, we restore ecosystems while empowering people to build resilient and prosperous livelihoods.

Approach to these
In order to address these problems, FAP uses gender-sensitive participatory approaches to build the capacities and empower poor community members technically. With this approach, FAP expects to achieve a more equitable access to and control over natural resources within the community and to reduce poverty and unemployment.
FAP focuses on the rural population of the Cameroon which constitutes 80% of the total population of the region. The reason for focusing on the rural population is because they depend on natural resources for most of their income generating activities (crop production, livestock rearing including beekeeping, exploitation of timber and non timber forest products). Because of their poor organization and poor management capacities, these resources are depleting thereby rendering them even poorer.
